Sage Gentle-Wing...

Sage Gentle-Wing is a gifted Guitarist /Singer / Songwriter who continues to develop his craft into his 4th decade as a professional musician / performing artist.

The former lead/ rhythm guitarist for Kansas City's Legendary " City Light Orchestra "has done duty in over 20 professional bands, toured extensively throughout the United States, New Zealand, Hawaii, Japan, Korea etc. and recorded both as an artist in his own right and as a sideman to others for 30 + years

A back injury sustained while on tour in Hawaii in the early eighties later created a pinched nerve that went untreated and resulted in a serious tendonitis problem in both arms and hands back in the eighties. A years' worth of therapy brought the hands back but also started Sage on a Path of self healing from years of hard living on the road. Sages' personal search for healthier living and alternative healing modalities lead him to study Cherokee medicine and Tibetan Buddhist monastic Dance and meditation.

This radical departure from the world of western music lead him to put down the guitar for 5 years and study Tablas, { e. Indian hand drum} with Tabla master USTED ZAKIR HUSSAIN, and Sacred Dance with several Tibetan Monks and his main teachers ASOKA AND SUJATA [ world masters of the the craft}. As a professional Sacred Dancer, he was featured on the cover of the premiere issue of Tantra Magazine in 1990.

This period lasted roughly 10 years but eventually Sage found a freshly kindled fire for songwriting and returned to guitar as his main instrument and sole source of income.

For the last 12 years or so, Sage has been banging out ALL ORIGINAL music in bars, small performance venues, and coffee houses throughout Arizona, Calif, Austin Tx { where he lived for 3 years} and even New Zealand { where he toured in '99 for 5 months as a solo artist}.

He has released several critically acclaimed CD's and cassettes over the years and released his last gull length CD "Roadside Revalations" in 2007.

Slowly Sage is returning to his roots as a formidable Jazz guitarist and his frequent appearances at local jam sessions are beginning to catch a buzz around town.

Sage has appeared in Video, Indie Films, TV, and Radio , in addition to his many live appearances throughout the world in concerts, festivals, workshops, clubs, etc.

His music is fast gaining a loyal following and acceptance in several markets such as AAA, Adult Contemporary, Folk , Jazz, Blues, R&B and Americana , such is the wide scope of his stylistic approach.

Throughout the years , Sage has become somewhat of an " Underground Legend" among discerning listeners who have come to associate his name with impeccable taste and integrity. Some of the heavy hitters in the industry agree:

Sage is known for his prodigious use of Altered tunings, primarily on Acoustic but he is fast regaining a reputation as an ELECTRIC LEAD GUITARIST as well as a gifted and unique Singer/ Songwriter and we'll be seeing more of that side of him in the future as he continues to explore the infinite dimensions of the soul of music in it's pure form.
