Band 9
Phaze 11 Hawaii 7 piece "Disco band" 1980 role- Guitar/vocals Toured Japan, Okinowa, phillipines, Hawaii, and Korea 8 months. Played 6 nights a week in Waikiki for 7 months straight in a 1200 capacity nightclub downtown. Hated the music but it was the 80's and disco was king in Hawaii and we were veritable "stars " with lines around the block every night! The lead singer from that band went on to join Hiroshima for 2 albums including the platinum "GO" * at this point I slipped a disc in my lower back, spent a week in traction and left the band to recover on the mainland.

Band 10
The Circus Vargas Band 1980-81 role - Guitarist 8 piece " touring Show band" backing up the Circus Acts. Best gig I ever had. 1,000 gigs back to back.
80 cities , 22 states in 11 months . 7 days a week non stop. * it was in this band I first played AUSTIN. Also while playing this gig in Corpus Christi I met Stevie Ray Vaughn playing a wild gig at a roadhouse in South Padre Island. This was 1981 and he was still unknown outside of Texas. I asked him if he wanted to come and sit in with our band during the actual circus which he thought was a complete gas, but had to decline because of a gig the next night in San Antonio. It was so cool to meet him under those conditions without pretentions on either side, I just thought he was a great guitarist and he didn't have any rock star attitude at all.

Band 11
Saturday Afternoon Suprise { SASS} 1983 San Jose , Ca
A R+B soul band including Harold Atterbury on trumpet[ Albert King,} Conrad Johnson on Bass {B.B. King} Bobby Keyes , keyboards [Bobby freeman-"Do the Swim"}

Band 12
Tom Learer Orch. 22 piece society orch.

Band 13
1983, Ed and Kalena band a duo with me added as a third party on guitar. A 3 month stint 3 night s a week in my own neighborhood in Los Altos { where John Lee Hooker died} The leader Ed Burke was the former keyboardist for the Ike and Tina revue circa 1969. I had actually seen him play that year at the Circle star theatre, the last tour the revue ever did before Ike and Tinas' famous split. This was largely an R+B revue with lots of blues thrown in. Very soulful but unfortunately never realized it's true "Band " potential by remaining small. A great gig while it lasted.

Band 14
The Henry Almond Dewey Band Alburqurque, NM 1985
Featuring Duke Dewey { Woodstock era Country Joe + the Fish-drums} ,Nick Dewey{ Author of "Runaway" Jefferson Starship, Harp on Patti Labelle's "Can't judge a book by it's cover" }, and Paul Kuhn died of a cocaine induced heart attack.

Band 15
" The Ride " Sedona AZ. 1986-87
A four piece cover rock band doing Delbert McClinton / Bonnie Raitt type material. I had quit music for three months upon arriving in Sedona and these guys picked me up and got me goin again, for a short lived but memorable ride. Tom Waterfield / the leader and rhythm guitarist was Jane Russels' { Gentlemen prefer Blondes etc} son. we played the Birdcage in Prescott for the 4th of July Rodeo to like 100,000 people all weekend long while they were filming a movie there. Wild! The lack of new material eventually bored me right out of the band.
